Western Culture(?), like others in the past, has been created and funded by conquest and looting (colonialism). As such, today we cannot comprehend the "Win-Win" model being proposed by Russia and China. We simply can;t do this even between allied countries, regions of the same country, or even within the same family! If there is an opportunity or profit, then that must be exploited.
WRT Climate change; I would suppose that Mr. Putin was just being pragmatic and understands that people have always worried about climate and weather. No amount of reasoning can convince an uneducated person away from a "Motherhood issue" Russians and specially the scientists have had a front row seat to the cycle of changes. So have many Westerners. But, it is so much easier and so much 'more profitable' to go along with the fear porn of the moment. Attached is a very good but not analytical video. The evidence provided clearly shows a cycle where the Arctic freezes and then warms again to spectacular abundance, which allows populations of large fauna that cannot live there now?
