Given the ineffectiveness of the US sanction regimen, perhaps a course correction is in order. I think an open letter to the world explaining that laughing at our sanctions is really causing America much BUTTHURT.
Of course Mark is correct that Erdogan talks the talk and has no intention of going further. However I would add a. that it's not just for domestic consumption but for wider audience as well in terms of his self-aggrandisement. In any case, neither audience can take him seriously. b. my view is that there is a little more involved though now - Turkey's game of playing US and Russia off against each other clearly doesn't work - neither is actually responding and in fact Putin has clearly kept distance for long time (after Azov betrayal?). Simply, the post Erdogan election turn to west has not worked, Russia has been played too much, and I really think Turkey is in a hole and needs a re-analysis.
If the US government executive branch is determined to subject us all to such idiotic geopolitical theater, we should at least protest for better looking, smarter actors.

I was thinking more along the lines of pity pleading, have mercy on a poor fading Empire, but heh fuck yes, play tough guy to the end!
And that letter will be Sternly Worded.
