Seems like every election every year is the “most important election in our lifetimes “ even though nothing changes very much (the elites always do well). History makes change not politics.
Having read something of Russian history( in English), it seems that Russia has experienced numerous encroachments and invasions for about a thousand years. This, sadly, IMHO, continues.
Russia's best friends are its army and navy as its Czar once said. I think that the conflict will continue with some escalatory brinkmanship, for some years.
The Russians may well draw upon their long Historic experience in this latest attempt to erode its independence.
