Reminds me of Mao inheriting large number of KMT troops after defeated Chiang Kai Shek retreated to Taiwan. At the start of China's involvement in Korean war these men were gathered up and sent into Korea to become targets of US bombings, which helped tremendously with converting the survivors in to hating America, while reducing the number that might have sided with any attempt to retake China by KMT/USA/Neo-UN combined forces.

i am almost believing that Zelensky and his new general who is russian are russian moles. Zelensky has done his best to destroy Ukraine under the guise of patriotism. And now we have a general who is butchering his own troops and doing a big big favor to Russia. This would be the a hugea as a New York state car salesman used to say coup.

"mass conscription can't start without more money" -- that's the key right there. unfortunately all the leadership in US/NATO (ie not the people) will, eventually, settle on providing this money. It will go on until the people do run out for real.

???Art??..."have our own accounts as safe and sacrosanct as our bank accounts "

Neither Bank Accounts, nor Electronic Voting, are in any way safe, and certainly not "Private"!

That World is long gone.

How this war continues and isn't either ended by Russia or abandoned by Ukrainians, exhausted by a fight for nothing, is incomprehensible.

Patience.

The Ukies are getting pissed at their leaders. And the front lines are getting thin.

Putin "the Mad Dictator" wants to get re-elected and dead Russian boys don't help with that. Plus Russia has a demographics problem. He likely wants lots of future daddies to make lots of future Rooskies.

@pxx

Yep. The problem is the absence of the people in the decision making isn't it?

It is well and truly time for the people to being to manifest.

This is no longer the dark ages or even pre war or ever post war: it is the modern cyberspace time.

The people can manifest their wishes with a push of a button on a cellphone given the right apps today.

They do it already regarding trivia and on 'social media' platforms.

given 'digital democracy' apps they each/we each could have our own accounts as safe and sacrosanct as our bank accounts via which we at the push of a button register our current vote for any and many things: current leader, current govt. , current policy on this or that, current actions here or there.

That would be the 'writing on the wall' ever present, ubiquitous, true and viewable by all at any time. Govts and leaders would get pulled into gear quicksmart and politicians and 'representatives' largely unnecessary would become obedient.

This truth has not penetrated yet.

Not anywhere, apparently. Sadly not even into the minds of our most acute and intelligent 'observers', 'social commentators', pundits, gurus, know-it-alls etc.

Mostly it hasn't penetrated into the minds of those clever open source programmers but when it does and they start rolling out these apps it won't be long before they coalesce into a clear authoritative indication of the people's will.

Then it will be a completely new ball game. Completely new.
