On casualty figures, there has been some sampling surveys that have been done since 2022, involving confirmed Russian and Ukrainian front line soldiers, the sampling was quite large and has been continually monitored and updated since the beginning of the SMO, the survey’s results showed that the Ukrainian soldiers that were enlisted or active in summer of 2022 have suffered an 80% permanent loss and of a further sample of Ukrainian soldiers that didn’t get to the frontline until 2023 a 77% permanent loss, that doesn’t include missing, deserted, or wounded however the Russian survey of soldiers that were there from the beginning is permanent loss of 20% including wounded and unable to return that figure is 18% for those that joined after 2023… even allowing for error those figures give an extraordinary view of what is happening on the field…. And highlights Russian military determination to minimise their own losses in combat…
Witkoff has said today that Russia has agreed to security guarantees from Europe and the US and that would take the form of an Article 5 basis… despite Putin and Lavrov both saying yesterday that Russia rules out any security guarantees from Europe etc and not without Russian agreement…and also saying that so far they have agreed to nothing more than to further negotiations through the existing process taking place in turkey so far which makes you wonder if the US hears one thing when Russia says another… or is this just more of the ‘pushing’ by the US to a peace deal on their terms….
I liked all of what they said. What they didn't talk about is that the West still has the Romanian - Transnistria option. It is taking the West longer because the Romanian and Moldovan people have recognized what happened to the Ukraine. However the West has already just disregarded the voting of the citizens of those countries. The Russians would certainly like to take Odessa back but that is when the above option would be instigated no matter what the Romanians or the Moldovans want to happen.
Pretty poor sound quality on this podcast, lots of choppy, clipped pops. Got better after around 32:00
Apart from that, the guests provided good commentary and opinion.
Yeah, sad I’ll never know what they said in the first 30 minutes because the clipping was awful!

If you go by call of duty: world at war, one Russian soldier can rack up a 10,000:0 kill ratio...
